📢 EU: Agreement on Targeted Revision of the Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

The Council of the EU and the European Parliament have reached a provisional agreement on a targeted revision of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), aiming to simplify obligations for SMEs and extend compliance deadlines..
📌 Key updates in the new GB:
Extended deadlines:
- 30 December 2026 → new application date for all operators.
- 30 June 2027 → extended deadline for micro and small operators.
Simplifications for SMEs:
- Due Diligence Statement (DDS) required only for the first placing on the EU market.
- Micro and small operators can submit a one-time simplified declaration with a traceability identifier.
Scope adjustment:
- printed products (books, newspapers, images) excluded due to low deforestation risk.
🔄 Next Steps
- The agreement must be formally adopted before replacing the current EUDR.
- By 30 April 2026, the European Commission will conduct a simplification review for further streamlining.
