📢 New Chinese standard for silicone rubber food contact material

On 2 September 2025, the National Health Commission of China officially released the revised mandatory national standard:
GB 4806.16-2025 – National Food Safety Standard: Silicone Rubber Materials and Articles for Food Contact.
📌 Key updates in the new GB:
- More focused scope: The standard now applies specifically to silicone rubber materials and articles intended for direct or indirect food contact.
- New indicators for volatile organic compounds (VOCs): Updated requirements introduce VOC-related parameters, reflecting increased attention to chemical safety, material quality and residual emissions.
- Update of the 2016 standard: The revision modernises the regulatory framework and aligns it with technological advancements and more targeted analytical needs.
